I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

8 Outfits For August

One never knows what August will bring. The heat may continue, but it might also return to the Great British Summertime we’re used to. We might even be wearing jeans again – who can tell? This month takes me to Italy (where the temperature is hovering around the 40-degree mark), but it also takes me to Herefordshire, Yorkshire and London, where it may well be cooler, so I’ve tried to cover all bases here.

This is one of those selfish posts where I’m basically putting together outfits that I already have in my wardrobe, so there will be things you’ve seen before. I’ll focus each look on an item that I own and love and show you how I plan on wearing it this month. Only time will tell if I follow this through. As ever, I’ll add different options for all budgets on the scroll bar under each look.

I will be taking a two-week break from the blog this month to enjoy said trips, but I’ll be back with you at the end of the month.

THESE TOAST TROUSERS

We’ve already established that Toast make really good trousers and shorts. These trousers are slightly cropped and elasticated at the back so there’s room for long lunches and a cheese board. The fabric is slightly thicker than a lot of my summer trousers, so they’ll see me through to autumn with no bother. Special mention to this T‑shirt that I found on Amazon. It’s the perfect in-between-a-T-shirt-and-vest-top if you like the idea of a vest but you want to cover your shoulders.

  1. Decadorn Mother Of Pearl Pendant Necklace
  2. Grecerelle Cap Sleeve T Shirt
  3. Ralph Lauren Square Sunglasses
  4. M&S Ultimate Tailored Single Breasted Blazer
  5. Missoma Shell Beaded Necklace
  6. Toast Carys Cotton Wide Leg Trousers
  7. Gucci Giglio small tote bag
  8. Adidas Japan Trainers

THIS DISSH DRESS

This was my first time ordering from Dissh after hearing so many people extol the virtues of its dresses. I wasn’t disappointed (which, frankly, is lucky, seeing as they’re based in Australia and the return fee is £15). This black mini is simply the perfect little black summer dress, especially for this heatwave we’ve been experiencing. It’s roomy without being tent-like. It has pockets. It’s made from 100% cotton, and it’s true to size. I can see myself wearing this for many summers to come. But I wish they would open a UK outlet.

  1. Mint Velvet Gold Tone Double Layered Necklace
  2. Dissh Annabel Cotton Mini Dress
  3. Organic Basics Core Triangle Bralettes
  4. Monica Vinader Gold Disc Earrings
  5. Stripe & Stare Boxer Shorts
  6. M&S Leather Metallic Round Toe Ballet Pumps
  7. Reiss Raffia-Effect Drawcord Bucket Bag

THESE FREE PEOPLE TROUSERS

Some people will be put off by the voluminous nature of these trousers, but the shape was exactly what attracted me to them. The pleat details are surprisingly flattering. To see them in motion, have a look here. I wore them with a white t shirt that time, but I will go for a navy and green mix next time — following that easy 3 colour rule. They are true to size.

  1. Ba&sh Gilda Embroidered Shirt
  2. Astley Clarke Blue Beaded Locket Necklace
  3. Boden Crew Neck Henley Vest
  4. Free People At Bay Trousers
  5. 111SKIN Repair Sunscreen SPF50+
  6. Anine Bing Kate Suede Hobo Bag
  7. M&S Suede Crossover Footbed Sandals

THESE WNU SHORTS

If you want a smart yet easily wearable pair of shorter shorts, then this linen pair from With Nothing Underneath could be what you’re looking for. I’m taking these on holiday with me to wear with my lightest of cotton tops in the Italian heat. I’ll wear them with my trusty Amazon sandals that I can rely on to do 20k steps in blazing heat without fear of blisters. I went up a size on the shorts as I always do with shorts because they should never be too tight.

  1. Mint Velvet Brown Beaded Charm Necklace
  2. Ro & Zo Ruffled Cheesecloth Cotton Blouse
  3. Oliver Bonas Tortoiseshell Sunglasses
  4. All Saints Sofi Linen Blend Drawstring Jacket
  5. WNU Linen tailored shorts
  6. Amazon Essentials Cross Strap Sandals
  7. Sezane Justine Basket Bag

THESE CITIZENS OF HUMANITY JEANS

Yes, I really did spend that much on this pair of jeans, so I need to find lots of ways to wear them before it gets too chilly to be showing that expanse of leg. They’re split up the sides, so they feel more like shorts than jeans, but the shape is just so original. I size down in COH jeans as I find they come up a little bit big. I imagine Zara will soon do a ‘homage’ to them. They already do this shape in trousers, so it’s only a matter of time before they do jeans.

  1. Amazon Raglan 3/4 Sleeve Baseball Top
  2. Finlay Ledbury Aviator Glasses
  3. Zara Henri Matisse Washed Sweatshirt
  4. Citizens Of Humanity Tulip Jeans
  5. Connock London Pelago Eau De Parfum
  6. Uniqlo Corduroy Round Mini Shoulder Bag
  7. Adidas Taewkwondo Shoes

THIS WYSE JACKET

I predict this kind of bubble-hem jacket is going to be popular as we move from summer to autumn. It’s definitely inspired by the Chloé jacket shape from last season. This one from Wyse is slightly longer than the original, which makes it easier for many of us to wear. There’s also this one from M&S, which is great but it’s more like a shirt than a jacket as it’s very lightweight and doesn’t have any pockets.

  1. Wyse London Lana Bubble Hem Trench
  2. Otiumberg Pebble Curve Drop Earrings
  3. COS Folded Shoulder Jersey T Shirt
  4. Zara Long Linen Blend Bermuda Shorts
  5. Loewe Anagram leather belt
  6. COS Frieze leather bowling bag
  7. M&S Leather High Vamp Flat Ballet Pumps

THESE ADIDAS X LIBERTY SHORTS

I mean, I love Liberty and I love my Adidas shorts, so there was no way I wasn’t going to purchase these bad boys. I’ve only worn them at home so far, but this is how I plan to wear them on holiday to walk to and from the swimming pool. I take a medium in these, and I’m a size 10/12.

  1. Varley Noa Club Cap
  2. Levis Teodora Lightweight Western Shirt
  3. Hunza G Coverage  Square Neck Swimsuit
  4. Adidas x Liberty Sprinter Shorts
  5. Kalidi Foldable Mesh Beach Bag
  6. Archies Support Flip Flops

THESE WIGGY KIT GAUCHO JEANS

My most recent acquisition. I’ve been eyeing up Wiggy Kit as a brand for a while now (it’s Anya Hindmarch’s sister’s company, so you know good design runs in the family), and they were kind enough to send me something from their collection. I picked these Gaucho jeans. I love the overly wide-legged-ness of them and the pocket and waist details. I got these in a size 12 as my waist is what often makes size 10 trousers too small for me. We can blame that squarely on my love of cheese and wine.

  1. Hush Elsa Gingham Beach Shirt
  2. Saint Laurent Acetate Sunglasses
  3. Uniqlo Cotton Short Jacket
  4. Mango Set of 3 combined bracelets
  5. Wiggy Kit Ecro Gaucho Jeans
  6. H&M Twill Shopper Bag
  7. Merit Shade Slick Lip Oil
  8. Mint Velvet Burgundy Leather Woven Pumps

Thanks for reading. If you’re going away this month, have a wonderful time, and I’ll be back with you on 22nd August.
