This post is sponsored by ME+EM. Last month we looked at some casual outfits from them, but this month I thought we would go for a few slightly dressier options, seeing as wedding/summer event season is upon us. If you’re lucky enough to be heading off to one such occasion, here are my picks. I also ordered some of them to try on and I’m still deciding which to keep.
I think this red dress is my front runner. The ruching around the waist hides the middle-aged meno belly that is proving very difficult to shift. It’s also fully lined, so there’s no worry about being too sheer in the sunlight. I think it would look great with a chocolate blazer and some chunky sandals. Also works well with flats, which is one of my chief concerns about dressing up. I’d say it’s true to size – I am wearing a 10.
This one I didn’t expect to like as much as I do, as it’s very girly – more girly than I would usually go for these days. But the structure of this dress is so good and it feels really nice to wear. It also has a lovely edging on the seams and the pockets. Yes, pockets! And the straps are wide enough to wear a regular bra underneath. This one is also true to size.
A slightly more casual one here with this metallic stripe two-piece. I think I’d need a better tan to fully pull this one off, but it would be a great option for summer holiday evenings. I would size up on the skirt as it came up a little bit small around my waist, but the vest is true to size. There’s also a matching wrap cardigan if you fancied the whole set.
