I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

Six summer jackets

Summer jackets: sometimes they can be as tricky as shorts. Well, maybe not that tricky, but that elusive ‘perfect summer jacket’ is hard to find. We’re all a bit over the classic, western-style denim jacket (by ‘we’, I obviously mean me). I know, I know, it’s a classic for a reason and I will never part with mine, but I feel it needs to be ‘on pause’ for a moment while we investigate alternatives.

I think what you’re after is something a bit different, that’s still lightweight and goes with lots of other things in your summer wardrobe. Of course this will depend on your personal taste, but I’ve found six styles that I like the look of, so let’s discuss the options…

THE KHAKI JACKET

Or ‘shacket’ if you will, but I’d rather you didn’t. Not sure why but those combo names activate my cringe glands. However, this style of jacket is one that will work with many items. We’ve noted this before, but khaki goes with so many other shades that it becomes a very useful colour to have around. Looks great with denim, patterns, blues, whites and lots more. I love this very simple jacket from Rapanui: it’s also nice and boxy and not too long. This is a perfect LMD outfit. We love us an LMD trick.

Side note: this would be my ideal festival outfit. I have an aversion to sequins and glitter, so you’re not going to see me in a rainbow catsuit anytime soon. You’re also not going to see me at a festival anytime soon, to be honest – not unless it’s near a nice hotel and someone else is driving me to and from it. I will camp for no man.

  1. Matteau printed organic silk shirt
  2. A Kjaerbede Lilly sunglasses
  3. Rapanui khaki cotton jacket
  4. Wyse London scallop hem denim shorts
  5. Nike blazer mid 77 trainers
  6. Uniqlo small round shoulder bag

DENIM JACKET

If you’re stuck on denim (and let’s be honest, I know I am. I’ve got previous), why not look for a jacket that’s a variation on that classic western style? I like the shape and style of this one from Hush, and we’ve mentioned before how useful this one from White Stuff is. Denim jackets will never go out of style; there’s a reason we all own one, they just go with everything.

  1. & Other Stories relaxed white T‑shirt
  2. Mediterraneo MT Chilli Earrings
  3. Hush Deja relaxed denim jacket
  4. Farm Rio yellow peppers maxi skirt
  5. Hopeful London pin dot Manhattan white leather tote bag
  6. M&S white leather buckle flat sandals

COTTON JACKET

Summer is the perfect time for a cream jacket: particularly good if you’re a neutral girl and you like your muted tones. I love the little ruffle and stitching details on this jacket. Seventy + Mochi are a new discovery for me. They’ve only been around since 2020 and are a great female-founded brand who specialise in denim, and we have already established how I feel about denim.

  1. Carissima 9ct gold T bar chunky necklace
  2. Reiss  navy jersey high neck top
  3. Loewe x Paulas Ibiza small anagram basket bag
  4. Abercrombie linen bend wide leg trousers
  5. Seventy + Mochi Pablo denim jacket
  6. Grenson chunky sole Queenie leather sandals

PATTERNED JACKET

If you’re bored of plain and want something to jazz up a simple jeans-and-T-shirt look, then a patterned jacket is for you. Are stripes a pattern? That is debatable, but my top pick is this little number from Boden (they also do matching shorts. I’m a sucker for coord). Good news for white T‑shirt fans: this one from Albaray is now back in stock in all sizes. Also, news just in from the world of high street jeans: I can personally confirm that these crop wide legs from Oasis are ALMOST AS GOOD as the Le Crop jeans from Sézane and are only £25. They’re on the snug side so I’d say if you’re in between sizes go up one size.

  1. Albaray roll sleeve white cotton t shirt
  2. Boden textured button jacket
  3. Oasis organic crop wide leg jeans
  4. Coach rainbow straw soft Tabby bag
  5. Teva universal pride sandals

SPORTY JACKET

Even though I’m not a stranger to the gym, I’m still not what you would consider ‘sporty’, so you won’t find me wearing athleisure on a daily basis. However, I do like that casual ‘might go to the gym, might not, you will never know’ look every so often. Plus I think a track jacket looks equally as good with a pair of boyfriend jeans. At the time of writing, these red Sambas were in stock in lots of sizes, but if they’ve now sold out, keep an alert on at Adidas as they’re actually good at emailing you when things come back in stock in your size.

  1. Solid and Striped colour block terry track jacket
  2. Anine Bing cotton twill baseball hat
  3. lululemon Back To Life sports bottle
  4. Happy Avocado pink and red swirls Apple Watch strap
  5. Adidas Island club pink & red shorts
  6. Anya Hindmarch bespoke Walton tote
  7. Adidas Samba red and white trainers

LINEN JACKET

Finally, the fabric of the summer: linen. I know it’s very much love-or-hate. Personally, I love a bit of linen in the summer and I’m not fussed about the creasing. This little cropped, boxy number from Seasalt is the perfect semi-smart-but-not-too-smart option if you’re not a fan of a blazer. Also, I can now confirm that these Air & Grace sandals are simply THE most comfortable sandals I have ever owned. This week alone I’ve done over 30k steps in them in the blazing heat of London with no blisters and – almost as important – no farting noises come from them when I walk.

  1. Ivy green stripe heavyweight cotton t‑shirt
  2. Le Specs Cat eye black acetate sunglasses
  3. Seasalt Cornwall Country House linen jacket
  4. Citizens Of Humanity Dylan barrel leg jeans
  5. Stine Goya Lotta Shell cross body bag
  6. Air & Grace Gala black leather sandals

Due to popular demand, next week I will attempt to do a summer holiday packing blog.
