Listen up ladies, it’s coat time. There are certain items of clothing I just love buying. Shoes are probably top of the list, knitwear excites me more than is acceptable (should I be admitting that?) and a new winter coat purchase is something I look forward to every year. Do I buy a new coat every year? Yes, I do. Do I buy more than one? Yes, I’m not ashamed to say, I do that too! I will be sorting through my previous years coats again soon though, to adhere to my (not very) strict policy of ‘one in, one out’. I’ll sell some on eBay soon to appease my guilty conscience.
So, this year I have bought 3 new coats already. Don’t judge me. Actually do, I am awful, but I *needed* them all. I really didn’t, I just wanted them. I got one in the sale from Etoile Isabel Marant back in May. What kind of fool buys a coat in May? This kind of fool, that’s who. I also bought my Whistles Faux Fur coat last week. Still too bloody warm to wear, but it will have it’s day. Then last weekend on a total whim, I bought a checked overcoat from Arket. I just happened to find myself on Regents Street and it would have been rude to have left empty-handed. It doesn’t seem to be online yet, but this one is very similar.
These new coats are in addition to those I already own and will not be selling. Those are; Smart navy coat from M&S, a classic that I’ve had for 4 years and will keep for a long time. I also have the Warehouse teddy coat that I am happy to say they are doing again this year. I love it. My Topshop Leopard Print Faux Fur Coat that comes out every year without fail, I bought mine 9 years ago and it still works a treat. Lastly, my M&S Trench Coat for slightly warmer days. Another Stone cold classic. I’ll add to this list my old Parka ‘Football’ coat, but I’m saving the ‘Parka post’ for a bit, until it gets really cold. So without further ado, here’s the 5 coat styles that I love…

CHECKED OVERCOAT
This one is new for me this season. I did buy a cheap one in New Look last year that I will still wear, but more spends means better quality so I’m looking forward to getting my new Arket one out. There’s tons of checked coats out there, this Top Shop one is my other favourite. I also just bought these cord trousers from Toast. Not a company I have bought much from in the past, but have recently re-discovered. The cords are perfect, I’m looking forward to some chillier days so I can wear them without being a sweaty arbuckle by the time I get off the tube!

TRENCH COAT
I know I’ve wanged on about this before, but I do feel that every lady needs a good trench Coat. I never ‘got it’ until I found the perfect one, now I wouldn’t be without it in my wardrobe. I may never actually be Audrey Hepburn. I like cheese too much to be a waif, but I can pretend with some ballet flats, nice jeans and a good trench…
