For once I’m not going to mention the weather, I’m going to talk about a new fashion obsession I have instead. It’s called GANNI. I know the Danish brand has been around for a few years now, but it’s only in the past 6 months or so that I’ve really got into it. If you haven’t heard of GANNI before, I promise you will want at least one piece from their new collection. My own personal collection is growing by the month! I have accumulated 2 dresses and a pair of boots (in the sale) so far, but I’m absolutely sure as the A/W season kicks in I that will be purchasing more.
I’m not going to lie, it’s not cheap, but it’s not super-duper designer expensive either. It’s a good middle ground between high-end and high street. Think Whistles, Sandro, Rixo type prices. You’re looking at around £200 for a dress and £140 for tops and trousers. You might not be able to buy entire outfits from there, but think of it as a special treat purchase to update the rest of your wardrobe.
Their wrap dresses are my particular favourite. they are super flattering, beautiful prints and such a great design. I have to wear a t‑shirt or a slip underneath mine to save my modesty, but those more adventurous ladies out there can go without. I bought the Red Silvery Crepe dress early last month and have already worn it a lot. Now I have done that thing I always do when I find an item of clothing I love, I’ve bought it in another colour.
What I love about this dress is that I can wear it now with sandals and trainers, but in the winter I can add boots, a thick pair of tights and long-sleeved top underneath and create a whole new look. That’s the idea anyway. Watch this space! As I know we’re not all made of money, I’ve picked out my current favourite items from the new GANNI collection and will show you how you can wear them with what you already have in your wardrobe and how to pair with cheaper high-street items.
This is my favourite style that Ganni do. It comes in many colours and materials. Beware, the wrap skirt has a tendency to flap wide open, so a cooling slip will be your friend in the summer and some secret leggings when it gets colder. I like the way it’s designed to tie on the highest part of your waist, so the fabric skins nicely over the belly, therefore disguising that mum-tum. The one that I really should have got rid of by now, as it’s been 11 years since I had a baby. I like the idea of clashing prints, so will be wearing a long-sleeved stripe top underneath once the weather cools. You must all have one of those by now. I bet you also have a denim jacket to throw over the top too.
Leopard print! You should all know by now, that I have serious weakness for leopard print. The Dress version of this shirt is on my wish-list too. If you are a little afraid of patterns then a shirt is a good way to dip your toe into it. Pairing with an otherwise all black outfit will both tone down the look and emphasise the pattern. This is how I would style it with black skinny jeans and chunky boots. Plus the BEST leather jacket money can buy. Believe me, this SET Fashion one is the most comfortable leather jacket ever! You can dress up or dress down this shirt too — add jeans and trainers for casual or a pencil skirt and heels for smart.

3. The Outnet Rag & Bone Cropped Skinny Jeans
4. SET Fashion Black Leather Jacket
5. Top Shop Black Leather Silver Buckle Boots
Add a pop of colour to your skirt arsenal with this green beauty! Like the shirt I would keep the rest of the outfit quite simple with Vans and black sweatshirt, but maybe you could also wear with a breton top and white trainers, (like the dress) for a print clash, or heels and a camisole for best. This green skirt also comes in leopard print — be still my beating heart!
If prints are still just not your thing, then how about a simple sweatshirt? Although this sweatshirt isn’t exactly simple, it’s slightly fitted, with 3/4 puff sleeves. Perfect to pair with your high waisted style jeans. I have a ‘thing’ for grey marl sweatshirts with a logo. They draw me in like a moth to a flame for some reason! I’ve found some alternatives in the scrolling bar below if, you too, are in the Grey Marl Sweatshirt Appreciation Society.
GANNI BLOW THE BUDGET DRESS
Finally, a dress of dreams for a super special occasion. Ganni make silk dresses as well as the crepe ones. These are in the £450 price bracket, so double the price, but if you’ve got a big event or a fancy wedding coming up this could be the one for you. I’d pair with flat ballerina type shoes and gold accessories, but it would also look amazing with heeled sandals
How do you feel about GANNI? If you liked this brand focus post, let me know and I will do some more in the future.
