Apologies, as I know I said we were going to look at outdoor outfits this week, but the lure of the Black Friday sales got too much to resist. Instead of doing the list of codes that I usually do, I thought we might benefit more from a general outfit inspiration post, but using ONLY items that are in the sale. I have gone through my favourite websites with a fine-tooth comb to find the best things. Some sites will be blanket discounting until tomorrow, some will require a code, so make sure you check out their homepage for details if you’re not seeing a discount displayed on the price.

WEEKEND COSY

Let’s start with a look we can wear around the house, but also go to the shops in, or even a trip to the cinema. I went to see Wicked this week and I LOVED it. I can’t say that I’m usually a big musical gal. I don’t go a bundle on jazz hands and singing that could be talking, but there’s something about this one that got me. I even clapped at the end. In the cinema. I couldn’t help it. Does that make me like those people who give the pilot a round of applause when the plane lands? If so, I can only apologise.

Listen, double denim isn’t just for the summer months. Throw on a good bit of knitwear over your DD and you’re good to go at this time of year too. I think this is my favourite outfit this week. Mainly because I can easily recreate it with things I already own.

YES YOU CAN WEAR A MINI SKIRT

Especially if it’s combined with a discounted chunky Bella Freud jumper. My Timehop app told me this week that it has been exactly 10 years since I bought my first 1970 jumper (in the Black Friday sales). I still wear that one every winter and it looks as good as new. There are very few items of clothing that stand the test of time like that.

JUST JEANS AND A NICE TOP

I don’t know how I haven’t seen these Mango jeans before, but they are basically THE shorts but in full-length format. If I didn’t already have a bulging drawer full of jeans, I’d be ordering them. If you get them, please let me know if they’re as good as the shorts. And I love this Hush sparkly mesh top. I saw someone wearing it last week and it looks great with jeans and a smart blazer for a festive night out.

I was very tempted by this Barbour x Alexa jumper, even at full price. I’m a sucker for a good stripe. I’m even more tempted now that it’s 50% off in the sale. But I must repeat after myself: ‘You. ANYTHING WITH EYES ON

My sons say they don’t understand the chokehold these Anya Hindmarch eyes have on middle-aged women. I can’t explain it either, but we just love them. I also know it’s not just me, as that Uniqlo collaboration sold out again this year in less than 24 hours (although at the time of writing they have done a small restock on the hats). I now really want this little purse to go with my hat, gloves, jumper and socks. I can almost see the eye rolls from the rest of my family from here (pun intended).
