The last time I did a post about my Uniqlo essentials, it was during the summer, and that was two years ago now. So I think it’s about time for an update, showing you the things I swear by during the colder months ahead.
Uniqlo is an absolute go-to for my whole family. We swear by it for a lot of our wardrobe basics, but we also dabble in outerwear and denim. In fact, my husband basically only shops at Uniqlo these days. For this, I am thankful, as I know whatever he’s buying from there is unlikely to offend me.
I’ve narrowed it down to 10 items that I own and love. For reference, I’m a size 10/12 in most shops, and almost without fail, I take a medium in everything I buy from Uniqlo.
HEATTECH CASHMERE BLEND TOPS
Forget all your other thermals; they’re bound to be inferior to these. These are super soft, super warm and super thin. I have them in four colours, and they’re just the best things to wear under pretty much anything on cold days.

MENS CASHMERE CREW NECK
The men’s cashmere crew neck is perfect if you want a more relaxed-style sweater. The fit works really well on women too. I go for a men’s medium for a loose fit that isn’t massively oversized. It comes in 14 colours.

CASHMERE V NECK JUMPER
If they did the men’s cashmere in a V‑neck, I’d be buying that, but for some reason, they don’t, so I have the women’s version in a large. I could even have gone for an extra large here. It’s the perfect jumper to wear over a white T‑shirt. In winter, I like the Uniqlo long-sleeve Baby T, as it hits just below my waist but doesn’t need tucking in.

SMOOTH COTTON CREW NECK JUMPER
I’ve had a few people ask for a jumper as an alternative to wool, and I can highly recommend this crew neck. It’s made from cotton but feels as soft as wool. It’s a really easy style to wear and comes in nine colours.

HYBRID DOWN JACKET
If you’re looking for a puffer jacket, Uniqlo is the place to go. Nothing fancy, no flashy labels, just a quality puffer jacket that will keep you warm. This one from the Uniqlo U collection is my favourite because of the great front pocket detail and the fact that it doesn’t have a hood. For some reason, I’m not a fan of hoods on puffer jackets, but that’s just me.

JERSEY BARREL LEG TROUSERS
If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll know all about these trousers. They now come in three different lengths. I wear the regular at 5’7”, but I’m tempted by the short pair as I like them slightly cropped (I usually roll up the hems). They have a very subtle barrel shape, more of a gentle curve, really.

PUFFERTECH PACKABLE GILET
An absolute must-have for watching the football (at the game, not on TV). I take this gilet with me because it packs down really small, then pop it on under my jacket when it gets chilly after half-time. It also converts into a V‑neck, so you can wear it under smarter coats without it showing. It’s a genius item of clothing that I wouldn’t be without.

BAGGY BARREL JEANS
These are my latest find from Uniqlo. They have a great baggy fit, tapering in at the ankle, and are made from lightweight, soft denim. I got them in a waist 28, leg 31. They come up a little on the large side, but I prefer the oversized fit with these.

HEATTECH ARGYLE SOCKS
Some of my favourite socks of all time. They bring out different colours each year and they’re usually available on a multibuy offer. Having seen this year’s colours, I’ll be heading over to Uniqlo very soon to stock up again.

PILE LINED FLEECE JACKET
If you work from home and don’t want to heat the whole house for too long, get one of these. It’ll keep your body lovely and warm. Also great for windy dog walks.

I hope this has been helpful. I honestly can’t fault Uniqlo when it comes to basics. The quality for the price is some of the best you’ll find on the high street.
