7 ways to wear your white jeans May 2026

I’m sure I’ve lost some of you before I’ve even started with this one, as white jeans aren’t the most practical day-to-day clothing item. If you have a dog, a small child or a clumsy disposition, you’re probably already moving over to do today’s Wordle instead of reading this. But hear me out, because white jeans can look really fresh at this time of year, and most of us own a washing machine, so what do you have to fear?

I do actually fear a spillage when I’m out for the day, so if I’m wearing white, I’ll always carry a Tide stain pen in my handbag. Time was you could only get these in the US, but now, thanks to the wonders of the internet, they’re available on next-day delivery here. Trust me on this: Tide pens are the best, and will miraculously clean up pretty much any small white-jeans accidents right away.

For those still with me, here are seven ways to style your white jeans this spring/summer.

CROPPED WHITE JEANS WITH STRIPES

A preppy style, but with the addition of a decent umbrella, because you never know in May when the heavens will open. A reminder, too, to give your suede shoes a quick once-over with a protector spray. This one is my favourite, and it really works. I’ve used it liberally on all my suede items. As with white jeans, we shouldn’t be waiting for the perfect day to wear our suede pieces. If we did, they’d barely see the light of day.

And you know how I feel about WNU shirts, but they’ve recently introduced a wider range of pieces to their collection, and this Cornwall cotton jumper is definitely on my wish list.

  1. WNU Cornwall Cotton Jumper
  2. Fulton Birdcage 1 Umbrella
  3. Zara Ankle Length Balloon Jeans
  4. & Other Stories woven Leather Tote Bag
  5. Arket Oversized Car Coat
  6. Mint Velvet Hallie Suede Deck Shoes

PALAZZO STYLE WITH A BLUE SHIRT

We’ve already established that you can wear a blue shirt with pretty much anything. I love this Uniqlo one for three reasons: 1) the boxy shape means you don’t have to tuck it in, but because it’s slightly cropped, it also won’t swamp you, and 2) it’s a collaboration with JW Anderson, who is now head designer at Dior, which means 3) you’re basically getting a designer item for less than £30. What’s not to like? Plus, if you’ve saved on your shirt, you can put the money towards these super-cool Wiggy Kit gaucho jeans.

  1. Uniqlo x JW Anderson Oxford Boxy Shirt
  2. & Other Stories Rectangular Acetate Sunglasses
  3. Dower & Hall Entwined Huggie Hoops
  4. Massimo Dutti Stand collar bomber jacket
  5. Dehanche Hollyhock suede belt
  6. Wiggy Kit Ecru Gaucho Jeans
  7. Miu Miu Vivant Medium leather bowling bag
  8. M&S Suede Flat Square Toe Ballet Pumps

CURVED JEANS WITH A GREY SWEATSHIRT

Like the blue shirt, a grey sweatshirt is a wardrobe workhorse. It goes perfectly with white jeans for a relaxed, cool-girl look. Can we be ‘cool girls’ past 40? I don’t know about ‘girl’, but ‘cool woman’ or ‘cool lady’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it? To be fair, this is a look I would have worn in my twenties, and I still do now. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and I still love my checkerboard Vans. They’re such an easy summer shoe.

  1. Haute Lamitie Logo T- Shirt
  2. Celine Black Acetate Sunglasses
  3. La Redoute Crew Neck Sweatshirt
  4. Uniqlo Baggy Curve Jeans
  5. & Other Stories Classic Leather Tote Bag
  6. All Saints Suki Black Leather Belt
  7. Merit Shade Slick Lip Oil
  8. Vans Classic Slip-On Checkerboard Shoes

STRAIGHT LEG JEANS WITH DENIM

If your inner cowboy says you want to try double denim, but your outer, slightly concerned peri/menopausal woman is hesitant, then try it with white jeans instead. It’s easier than going the whole blue-denim hog. Don’t forget colourful shoes to give the whole thing a lift.

  1. All Saints Denim Illusion Long Sleeve Shirt
  2. Mango Cotton jacket with pockets
  3. Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans
  4. Reiss Grained-Leather Tan Bucket Bag
  5. John Lewis x LABRUM Print Square Silk Scarf
  6. Flattered Blaise Leather Cherry Flats

MONOCHROME FOR DAY

I’d say this is the easiest and chicest way to wear white jeans. It looks like you’re all put together, but it’s actually so simple: just add your favourite black T‑shirt (this one from Leset is mine right now – not cheap, but it’s the perfect cut and fabric for me), a black blazer and a pair of ballet flats or sandals. If you invested in a studded belt when they were the accessory du jour last year, well done, as they’re still a thing, and the perfect way to add a rock edge to this look.

  1. Leset Margo cotton jersey T‑shirt
  2. Gina Tricot slim cat eye sunglasses
  3. All Saints Aleida Lightweight Tri Blazer
  4. Hush Seren Studded Leather Belt
  5. Citizens Of Humanity Ayla mid-rise wide-leg jeans
  6. March Bag Black Leather Stud Bag
  7. Casetify Mirror Check Phone case
  8. Zara Crackled Effect Ballet Flats

MONOCHROME FOR NIGHT

Swap your T‑shirt for a cami, your flats for some (easy-to-wear and not-too-high) heels, and your simple hoops for more impressive chandelier earrings – and you’re good to go. This would be the perfect alternative to a dress for a dinner event.

  1. Mint Velvet Black Satin Lace Camisole Top
  2. Orelia Statement Pearl Drop Earrings
  3. Aligne Daphne Long Waisted Blazer
  4. COS Chord Straight Leg Jeans
  5. Arket Croco-Embossed Clutch
  6. Sekonda Sekonda womens bracelet watch
  7. Nobody’s Child Black Leather Flip Flop Heels

BARREL LEGS AND THE BEST JACKET

A plain white T‑shirt would work just as well here, and it doesn’t matter if your whites don’t match. In fact, it’s better if they don’t. You can break them up with a contrasting belt, and then throw almost any jacket over this base look. One of my current favourites is still this one from Albaray. It’s also shower-resistant, so you won’t get too soggy if you’re caught in a spring squall.

  1. TBco Cotton T‑Shirt in Ecru Snake
  2. Monica Vinader Click Medium Hoop Earrings
  3. Albaray Windbreaker Jacket
  4. Sezane Livie Leather Belt
  5. Damson Madder Erika Barrel Jeans
  6. H&M Lattice-weave shopper Bag
  7. WYSE x FINLAY Henrietta Sunglasses
  8. Salomon XT‑6 Trainers

I hope this has inspired you to get your white jeans worn. Stain-fear begone!
