8 Outfits I Would Like To Wear in November

Don’t even start on how many weekends there are until Christmas – I can’t deal with it. How is it November already? Why is it dark at 4pm? And where are my thermals and those sheepskin shoe liners I buy every year and then promptly lose somewhere down the back of the cupboard of doom over summer?

Actually, our cupboard of doom (under the stairs) flooded the other week, thanks to too many shoes and boots pressing up against a pipe that feeds the radiators. Every radiator in the house ended up draining straight into that cupboard.

On the plus side, it forced us to take inventory, and there were shoes in there dating way back to PC (pre-Covid). Four pairs of small boys’ football boots, seventy-eight bags for life, and a lunchbox from 2008. Thankfully, I only keep my dog-walking footwear in there, so I only lost one old pair of Reebok Classics to the great flood of 2025. And now the cupboard of doom is actually a useable space for the first time in years. Every cloud.

But we have to face facts: it’s actually November now, and we need to dress appropriately. With this in mind, here are eight outfits I fancy wearing this month.

COLD DOG WALKS

I should probably add a head torch to this outfit. The days already feel so squeezed without the extra stress of trying to get out and back before darkness falls, which now seems to be at about 3:47pm. Realistically, I’ll be wearing my wellies rather than these nice boots, but wellies don’t look quite as photogenic for the purposes of this blog. I have these, which have been going strong for 18 months now. I also rate these, but they do have a tendency to crack after a couple of years of high-intensity mud action. Note; don’t be afraid to look at the mens department for puffer jackets, they often have a better variety.

  1. Aquascutum checked puffer jacket
  2. ME + EM Sunday Cashmere Jumper + Snood
  3. Albaray Dark Wash Turn Up Jeans
  4. Uniqlo Round Mini Corduroy Shoulder Bag
  5. Mabel Sheppard Navy & Tan Leather Eyes Gloves
  6. Grenson Jeanette Handpainted Leather Boots

TOO BIG FOR YOUR BOOTS

I’ve been working with Free People for a few years now, and there’ll be another blog coming next week with more of my top picks. As part of our collaboration, I get to choose a few items each season to keep. This time, I took a chance on these boots. Not my usual style, but I have to say, I love them. I’m now mentally styling them with everything I own and (dare I say it) having a rummage through my ‘clothes-I-don’t‑wear-but-can’t‑bear-to-get-rid-of’ pile to see if there’s a pair of slim jeans hiding in there somewhere. For now, I’m wearing them with thick tights and short skirts, and honestly, I’m all for it.

  1. Zara Jaquard Knit Cardigan
  2. Apsley & Heron Gold Plated Name Necklace
  3. Uniqlo 100% Merino Crew Neck Jumper
  4. Aligne Yolie Pleat Denim Mini Skirt
  5. Free People Bryce Equestrian Boots
  6. Mint Velvet Tan Corduroy Shoulder Bag
  7. Albaray Tweed Cocoon Sleeve Coat (code KATE20 for 20% off)

IF IN DOUBT WEAR BLACK

I know brown is the new black and navy is infinitely more flattering, but for evenings out when I can’t think too hard about what to wear, I’ll always turn to the dark side. I know I featured these Aligne trousers last week, but they’re so good I’ll definitely be wearing them again this month. Ideally with the blazer I bought from the same brand last year but never quite got around to wearing. It’s an easy, smart, going-out outfit that makes a nice change from the classic LBD.

  1. Aligne Daphne Waisted Blazer
  2. Zara Tahir Sapphire & Ruby Ring
  3. Astrid & Miyu Gleam Crystal Drop Studs
  4. Aligne Genevieve Pleated Wide Leg Trousers
  5. Saint Laurent Gaby Quilted leather shoulder bag
  6. COS Tailored Metallic Wool Blend Long Coat
  7. Essentiel Antwerp Leather studded loafers

FOR THE FOOTBALL

This is, of course, a shameless plug for my collaboration with Black & Beech. There are still a few of my reversible merino wool jumpers left, but once they’re gone, they’re gone. They’re made for layering over a classic white T‑shirt, which is exactly how I’ll be wearing mine. I’ll throw it on with my trusty football puffer, a layer (or three) of thermals, and of course, a few red accessories for good measure.

  1. Kate Hiscox x Black & Beech Merino wool reversible jumper
  2. Jigsaw Supima Cotton Long Sleeve T
  3. Second Stories Poppy Red Wool Triangle Scarf
  4. Citizens Of Humanity Miro high-rise barrel-leg jeans
  5. Black & Beech Navy & Red Lambswool Mittens
  6. M&S Thermowarmth Hooded Puffer Jacket
  7. Uniqlo Cotton Mix Socks
  8. John Lewis Purcie Leather Chelsea Boots

FEELING KILTY

It’s the final of The Celebrity Traitors this week – like you needed reminding. I’ve cleared my diary for Wednesday and Thursday evening. Claudia has, once again, reminded me to dig out my pleated skirts. I already have a few kilt-like ones, but I’ve been on the hunt for a just-above-the-knee black version. So far, the search has been fairly fruitless for what I’m willing to pay (even on Vinted), and I’m usually quite good at tracking down elusive items. I did find this one from Brora that looks good but quite pricey. I also like this check one which is more affordable, and this navy one is a great option too.

  1. Vivienne Westwood Amaya Orb Faux Pearl Necklace
  2. WNU Navy Wool Cornwall Jumper
  3. M&S Argyle Scarf
  4. Jigsaw Wool Maxi City Coat
  5. COS Pleated Metallic Wool Blend Skirt
  6. Massimo Dutti Nappa leather maxi tote bag
  7. Massimo Dutti Leather shoes with moc toe

SHORT SKIRT SUIT

This is another look I’m keen to try; let’s call it a modern take on Melanie Griffith in Working Girl. Just without the really big hair and shoulder pads. I’ve ordered this jacket and skirt, so I’ll keep you posted on how this style looks on a real person.

  1. M&S Micro Check Jacket
  2. The White Company Cashmere Essential Scarf
  3. Boden Sienna Ivory Silk Shirt
  4. M&S Dogtooth Check Mini A‑Line Skirt
  5. Vivienne Westwood  Shirley Small Suede Holdall
  6. Grenson Yasmin Buckled Flats
  7. Zara 100% Wool Grey Cardigan

JUST JEANS AND A NICE TOP

Because, just like black, it’s an easy answer to the question: “What are you wearing tonight?” If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, I say. Also worth noting: my favourite lipstick is now available at Liberty. I bought mine in Paris, but now I can just nip to Soho for a top-up and collect reward points at the same time. Win-win.

  1. Monsoon Vittoria Bow Velvet T‑Shirt
  2. Missoma Mini Pyramid Charm Hoop Earrings
  3. Rixo Nyla Cotton-Corduroy Embroidered Jacket
  4. Amanu Grumeti leather belt
  5. Boden Straight Leg Pocket Jeans
  6. Fable Black Velvet Rose Embroidered Clutch
  7. Violette.Fr Rose Latte Bisou Balm
  8. Rixo Rey Black Leather Low Heel Boots

WHERE’S WALLY?

I have this YMC jumper in grey and green, and it’s one of my favourites. I’ll be wearing it tonally, so hopefully I won’t look too much like everyone’s favourite hard-to-spot traveller.

  1. YMC Red Jets Stripe Jumper
  2. Ivy Ellis The Cousteau Beanie
  3. & Other Stories Tailored Wool Pea Coat
  4. Andersons Textured-leather belt
  5. Toast Organic Cord Pleat Front Trousers
  6. Free People Emerson Tote Bag
  7. Penelope Chilvers Oscar Wool Lined Chelsea Boots

I will be starting to do my annual gift guides soon. I have a rule that I don’t start thinking about Christmas until after bonfire night.
