Welcome to the bumper annual almost-January sales post. I think I’ve found some excellent items for you this week, I know this because I want to buy so much of it for myself.
If you’ve been around for a while, you will be well aware of my ‘5 rules for shopping the sales’ because I do this every year, but for those of you who are new, here they are…
My 5 rules when shopping in the sales are to ask yourself these questions:
- Did you contemplate buying it at full price?
- Does it fill a hole you have in your wardrobe? (metaphorically)
- Will you wear it more than 10 times?
- Do you love it and can’t live without it?
- Can you afford it?
If you can say ‘yes’ to at least 3 out of these 5 rules, then go ahead. I am also going to add a 6th one, just for me; Did you really want it when it was full price, but felt it was way too frivolous? but now it’s in the sale you feel you can just say ‘fuck it’ I’m getting it? That counts too.
Here’s my pick of the sales for you. All of these items are discounted and many of them are things I did actually buy at full price so I’m jealous that you can now buy at a discount.
Always check out the homepage of the site for any extra deals just in case there’s any additional money-off codes. Also, it’s worth holding your nerve if you can, as many companies will inevitably be discounting more heavily as we get into January. I’m rubbish at doing this because I worry my dream item will sell out if I don’t buy it the instant I see it on sale, but you may be made of sterner stuff.
COLD WEATHER WEEKENDS
I hold my hands up and say I did just buy these ME+EM joggers. I feel like they will be a perfect ‘at home, but can still be worn out to the pub/shops’ item. Also good for travelling, which I have coming up later next month. Sold to the woman who needs to get back to the gym instead of buying new joggers.

SMART CASUAL STYLE
If you’re looking for a really good pair of barrel leg jeans that aren’t too exaggerated, then these ones from Abercrombie are the perfect entry level pair. I have them and they are very good indeed. Wear now with slim ankle boots or loafers, wear in spring/summer with trainers or sandals. This style is here to stay.

YOUR BEST DRESS

MIXING TEXTURES
A crisp and timeless Westwood shirt with a shaggy furry jacket? It shouldn’t work but I feel like it does. I bought these Essentiel Antwerp jeans last week when I was passing their pretty shop on the Kings Road. They are the perfect baggy pair I have been looking for. Size down as they come up big and they are long, but you can turn up the hems for wearing with flat shoes.

MY EVERYDAY OUTFIT
Yes, more jeans, but I basically live in jeans and this pair from Citizens of Humanity have been my most worn style of the year. I love them. They also come up a little big so go down one waist size again if you’re thinking of investing in them.
