I had the best time (despite a terrible journey) visiting my friends @editsecondhand in Sussex today. We did an Instagram live which descended into chaos at times and I came home with a pair of pre-loved Prada loafers. A day well spent.

It’s been a year since I posted about this, I’

It’s been a year since I posted about this, I’m nearly 52 now, but I get asked almost every week so, here it is again… Up until my late 40s I was one of those annoying people who didn’t really put on weight and never did any exercise. But when peri-menopause struck, even after going on HRT, I found I couldn’t fit into my favourite jeans anymore, as fashion was always my passion, something HAD to be done.

I now do strength training twice a week with @zek_fitness_nutrition at her gym. We do 3 sets of 3 exercises each one focuses on a different part of the body to tone up and build muscle. It’s the best kind of exercise for women over 50 apparently and I hard agree on this.
.
Along with the exercise I started (semi) intermittent fasting. I try not to eat between 8pm and noon the next day (but I do always have my morning cappuccino with one sugar as life is too short to give up that pleasure) my diet hasn’t changed drastically which is the beauty of the fasting. But I am more mindful about snacks.
.
I aim to walk 10k steps a day, but spread over a month as an average. Having a dog helps with this.

I stopped having my 6pm wine every night. I try and take 3-4 days a week off booze. But I’m not strict with that. It was more breaking the every night habit.
.
I have gone from size 12/14 to a 10 and weigh what I did before I had children. I don’t feel tired in the afternoons anymore and I generally feel just better.
.
It’s not easy and it’s not a quick fix. It took me over 8 months to get where I wanted, so stick with it.
.

The days are getting shorter, the leaves are starting to fall, thoughts turn to ‘Can I make it to October without resorting to tights or turning the heating on?’.
