I was talking to someone the other night about my job and it dawned on me that I have never not worked. I got a paper-round at 13 because there was a white oversized duster coat in Miss Selfridge that I REALLY wanted and I needed the money to buy it. Since then I have worked in various shops, in a place that sold swimming pools (failed to sell Bonnie Langford one despite getting in to demonstrate the wave machine function), have been a waitress in many many restaurants, sold beer and ice cream at the Hammersmith Odeon, did 4 years at a heavy metal record company (still have the tattoos to prove it) and have been in my current job for nearly 20 years.
