I do love a good pair of white jeans. You can take those visions of Carol Vorderman or Liz Hurley wearing skin-tight versions while celebrating their ‘Rear of the Year’ win out of your head, as I’m not talking skinnies here. By the way, how was that even a thing? We were discussing the other day how weird it now seems that we had stuff like ‘Rear of the Year’ and ‘Page Three’ in The Sun. I’m sure there was even a news channel where ladies read the weather with no top on. Or did I just imagine that? And don’t get me started on Bill Wyman and Mandi Smith’s wedding being celebrated on the cover of OK! magazine… Different times.
I digress, as we’re not here to talk about misogyny in years gone by but rather to look at some tip-top outfits featuring white jeans. If you don’t already have a pair, here are seven that have recently caught my eye along with some ideas on how to style them.
WITH A GOOD LINEN BLAZER
If you want to look a bit smart but still wear jeans, swap out your usual blue pair for a white pair. I’m telling you, it immediately looks like you’ve made more of an effort. I saw a lady wearing this ME+EM blouse with white jeans the other day – it comes with a matching neck tie and she looked great in it. I actually had to stop her and tell her that.

- Zara Mid Rise Barrel Leg Jeans
- Loewe Medium leather-trimmed basket tote
- La Redoute Formentera Leather Closed Sandals
WITH BLACK LEATHER
If a blazer feels too formal for you and you want to butch up your white jeans a bit, then wear them with some black leather instead. Add a statement belt so that when you take your jacket off, you’re still sporting that ‘rock chick look’. ‘But wait,’ I hear you cry. ‘There’s nothing cool about a pair of FitFlops, Kate.’ I would agree with you, but I was wanting a pair of leather flip flops to emulate these by The Row that cost far, far too much. I got served an ad for these. I ordered them ‘just to see’ and I can confirm their claims of comfort are true and, with a pair of loose jeans, they’re going to look more designer than ‘I bought these from an ad at the back of the Telegraph Saturday magazine’. I hope so, anyway, because I’m keeping them.

WITH SOME BRIGHTS
I’m not going to apologise for the amount of Arket clothes that are featuring in this post as their new season is excellent. I am loving so much of it. Especially this bright yellow shirt and this navy bubble-hem jacket. They would work so well together and with your white jeans. The beauty of white jeans is that they go with bright colours. Unlike black jeans that can sometimes look jarring with brights.

- ME + EM White Culotte Jeans
- Timex Charlie Brown Watch
- Accessorize Mesh Stripe Shopper Bag

WITH KHAKI AND STRIPES
Because it’s always a classic combination and it works so well with your cream or white jeans. And I can’t sing the praises of the COS clean-cut T‑shirt enough. I now have it in three colours. It’s the perfect weight, length and fit. Also washes very well, which is very important with T‑shirts. I have some from a couple of other brands that have totally lost their shape after a few goes in the machine, which is no good at all.
- Arket Linen Blend Overshirt
- Mango Resin Frame Sunglasses
- COS Clean Cut Regular Stripe T Shirt
- Whistles Wide Leg Crop Jeans
- H&M 2‑pack embellished rings
- Arket Beige Suede Bag
- Russell & Bromley Flete Suede Trainers
WITH A STRUCTURED BLAZER
Another example of smartening up white jeans, although we all know that adding a blazer to pretty much any outfit makes it smart. Even with shorts. I will do shorts next week, probably. This week, the weather hasn’t been conducive to writing about them, I’m afraid.

- Missoma Savi Sculptural Droplet Pendant Necklace
- Reiss Cotton Blend Tank Top
- COS Gold Sculpted Cuff
- COS Bay Barrel Leg Jeans
- Vivienne Westwood Granny Small metallic leather tote bag
- Sezane Gloria Gold Leather Sandals
WITH A SWEATSHIRT
I feel there’s an air of Princess Di about this look. Maybe it’s the cap. I’m not averse to a cap, but I have two problems with the idea of wearing one. One, my head is deceptively massive. Two, if you’re going to wear a cap you have to commit to it all day, as once it’s on and your hair moulds to the shape of it, there’s no going back, so it really is a weekend or a holiday thing for me.
- Hush Stripe Heavyweight Sweatshirt
- H&M Corduroy Embroidered Cap
- Mint Velvet White Tennis Graphic T‑Shirt
- Burga Gourmet — iPhone Case
- Citizens Of Humanity Ayla mid-rise wide-leg jeans
- Anthropologie Nola Woven Leather Bag
- Monsoon Pip Woven Leather Sandals
WITH MORE DENIM (& A HINT OF PINK)
I can’t get through a denim post without adding a double denim look. It’s so easy to wear white jeans with your blue denim shirt or jacket. One for you if you still can’t get your head around ‘real’ double denim.
- Claudie Pierlot Denim jacket with Peter Pan collar
- Oliver Bonas Faux Tortoiseshell Round Acetate Sunglasses
- Arket Dusky Pink Linen Shirt
- H&M Baggy High Jeans

We will look at shorts next week, I promise, even if the weather says we shouldn’t. Summer is coming, so we need to be a little bit prepared.
