The Changing Of The Seasons - Autumnal fashions

The Changing Of The Seasons

Yes people, here we go again. It’s a new term in the fashion calendar. In fact it’s officially ‘Fashion Month’. The seasons they are a changing and the start of September is my absolute favourite fashion time of year. It’s like Christmas for style shoppers. The dregs of the sales are finally over and the shops can return to their former glory instead of resembling the local WI jumble sale…

Don’t get me wrong, I do love summer for its general warmth and happy demeanour, but dressing for the heat is tricky, especially when the only parts of your body you are actually a fan of are your wrists and ankles. (when I say you, I mean me) September means we can put our flimsy summer outfits back in the ‘holiday drawer’ where they belong and begin looking forward to some cosy knitwear again, we can layer our shirts, jumpers and a jacket — what joy! and Coats! all kinds of beautiful coats! (I have a friend who gave a vocal whoop of delight back in July when she spied the first coat for sale in M&S) Items with long sleeves! New boots! Hell,  I even look forward to buying new tights. So much choice, so many shops, so little money (but let’s gloss over that part for now)

or a giant oversized pink fake fur from J Crew?  not in stock yet, but I’m checking back on daily basis, and I don’t even like pink!

Coats are an investment right? I buy a new one every year, so my portfolio is stacked. This year will it be a full length navy military style coat with red piping from Gucci (a girl can dream) or a giant oversized pink fake fur from J Crew?  Not in stock yet, but I’m checking back on daily basis, and I don’t even like pink!

The High Street has some beauties in already and I’m sure there will be more to come…

Jackets? yes please Sir. This is the one I really really want, spied on TheFrugality.

The Changing Of The Seasons - Bomber jackets

It’s from New Look of all places, who’d have thought? It’s not in stock yet, but again, I’m checking on regular basis. But do I really need another bomber jacket to add to the 57 million I already have? Do I go for something cropped? Or a Blazer?  Or go completely off piste and get something in Velvet?

Cashmere, oh how I’ve missed you, I’m counting the days until Uniqlo do their ‘deal of the week’ on men’s V neck cashmere jumpers. (believe me they are the best I have found) M&S have already dedicated the whole of the front of the High St. Kensington branch to Cashmere, which is possibly a little previous seeing as today was actually a scorcher, but they are obviously just as excited about Autumn as me. What boots am I looking for? My heart says these black leather and silver studs by Givenchy, my wallet says ‘Wooah Nelly, hold up there a second, get yourself down to Topshop’. I have way too many ankle boots, but maybe a ‘slightly’ different pair is needed. It’s always needed, right?

Dresses! Long ones! with sleeves! Heaven!  They can be worn with an end of summer tan for now and some lovely new thick black tights next month. The absolute dream is Preen by Thornton Bregazzi like this one:

But, for those of us unable to part with £1700 of cold hard cash, I found a few alternatives…

I must apologise for the over-use of exclamation marks in the this post, but I am clearly quite over excited. I will do a few more posts soon concentrating on each individual items I’ve mentioned as the shops get fully stocked.

What are you eyeing up this season?
