I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

Not Quite Christmas Jumpers

Almost Christmas jumpers, I’m not talking about your 100% acrylic, sweat inducing £14.99 comedy jobs from Primark. I’m talking about a decent quality winter knit, that perhaps has a bit of a Fair-isle pattern or some such. A sweater you can buy now for the festive season that will see you through unit it snows in March again, like it did this year. How long ago does that feel?

I know I should be doing  gift guides and we shouldn’t be buying things for ourselves so close to Christmas. But I have barely made a dent in my shopping so I can’t be here telling you what you should buy your loved ones if I can’t even decide what to buy my own yet. Besides, when I do start my shopping I am inclined to have a bit of  ‘two for you, one for me’ going on. After all, there’s no better gift than a self gift. Guaranteed to get what you actually want that way.

I love a good winter sweater. I’m not really one for too much sparkle, even at Christmas. It’s something I’ve tried in the past, but it’s just not me. I’d rather stick to a festive jumper. Last year I searched high and low for the perfect Fairisle but never committed to anything. This year I have seen loads. I bought the Boden one, which I love and is super warm and a blue one from Samsoe and Samsoe. Now we just need the weather to cool down a bit so we can bust out our big knits. Here’s what I have found…

FAIRISLE KNIT AND MINI SKIRT

Winter is the only time I feel confident enough to wear a skirt that is anything higher than about calf-length. That’s because I feel safe and covered up in the comfort of 80 deniers and a decent pair of boots. Add this oversized H&M Fair-isle jumper and you are good to go.

1. H&M Wool blend oversized jumper
2. New Look Wild Ones T Shirt
3. Arket Denim Mini Skirt
4. Carloe London Edie Box Bag
5. Shoeaholics Carvela Tober Leather Boots
6. Falke Merino Blend Tights

NAVY FAIRISLE AND JAZZY SOCKS

I bloody love a jazzy sock in the winter. Although this week its been so warm in London I almost contemplated a quick ankle fake tan, as mine are so pasty white and long socks have been too warm. I think this coming week will be good for socks though. I hear it’s finally getting colder. a full-on Navy outfit makes me feel all grown-up and smart. Socks also make excellent Christmas presents. I’m never disappointed with socks.

1. Hobbs Merino Wool Blend Greta Sweater
2. Mulberry Leather Lily Bag
3. Cos Tailored Pleat Trousers
4. Happy Socks Optical Socks
5. Grenson Louella Leather Brogues

CAMEL KNIT AND CORDUROY

My love for corduroy this season knows no bounds. I really hope it’s still cool next year as I’ve gone a bit overboard. Also loving pretty much everything in Arket right now too, including this patterned jumper. Chunky boots are going nowhere either.

1. Arket Alpaca Blend Argyle Jumper
2. M&S Textured Camel Overcoat
3. Top Shop Corduroy Button Front Midi Skirt
4. & Other Stories Lace Up Suede Boots

STRIPE JUMPER & SEQUIN SKIRT

You know when I said I didn’t do sparkles?Well I lied.I would do a sequin skirt with a good knit. I like the casual/glittery combo for this time of year. It’s like the outfit equivalent of a mullet ‘casual on the top, party n the bottom) I’d wear this with trainers but you could easily swap them out for a heel and a tuxedo jacket and you’d be good to go straight from work to the office party.

  1. & Other Stories Stripe Knit Jumper
  2. Zadig and Voltaire Rock Bubble Bag
  3. The Outnet Maje Sequin Midi Skirt
  4. Topshop Los Angeles T Shirt
  5. Golden Goose Deluxe Glitter Star Trainers

I will try and do some sort of gift guide for next week, or is that too late? Sorry if the layout isn’t quite right this week. WordPress changed their whole system so it might take me a while to get to grips with it.
