I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

Keeping it casual with Free People

This post is sponsored by Free People. This time we are keeping it casual for autumn. I’m very happy they asked me to collaborate with them again for the new season. If you haven’t spent much time on their site you may think that they are aimed more towards the 20-somethings, but they have some really good stuff for women of all ages. It’s sometimes a bit hard to navigate your way around as there is SO MUCH choice, so unless you have a clear idea of what you are looking for it can be quite overwhelming.

To make it slightly easier for you, I have picked out some of my favourite items, so without further ado, let’s have a look at what I found…

TEES AND TOPS

Free People Oversized Beastie Boys T Shirt

If it’s retro band T‑shirts you are after, then Free People has them in abundance. Most are very oversized though, so size down if you don’t like things too loose. I chose the Beastie Boys T‑shirt because they were just the coolest and ‘Licensed to Ill’ was the soundtrack to an entire summer of my misspent youth. Around the same time we discovered the parents’ drinks cabinet. Note to today’s teenagers, crème de menthe mixed with vodka is NEVER a good idea.

JEANS AND ALL-IN-ONES

Lovin’ You striped top and The Boyfriend dungarees

If it’s dungarees you are looking for, then let me give praise to the Free People ‘Boyfriend’ style. They are slightly cropped, not tight and work a treat for days when you just want to dress like a toddler. They are sold according to waist size; I went up a size in these and they fit a treat. In fact I would go so far as to say they have become my favourite pair already.

OUTERWEAR

Free People classic Dolman Quilted Jacket

I’ve been hankering after the Free People Dolman quilted jacket for a while now. It’s a classic staple that they do every season in various colours. Like the ‘Love of My Life’ dress it’s a hallmark of the brand. I knew it was oversized so I went for a small in this one. I’m a 12, usually. Supersoft and comfortable. I see this one being a perfect everyday jacket, although only on dry days as it’s made from cotton!

JUMPERS AND SWEATSHIRTS

Free People Montana Big Sky Sweatshirt

If it’s supersoft knitwear you are after, then look no further. Along with this sweatshirt above, I have some Free People cashmere jumpers from a few years back that I will still be wearing this winter. Their cashmere is really good. My favourite is the boxy ‘So Low So High’ jumper. It has a nice wide hem that makes it the perfect jumper to wear over dresses when it gets really cold. Also, mine has not bobbled at all and it’s now in its third year of wear.

ACCESSORIES

Finally, a little look at some accessories, because we all love a good bag or a decent pair of trainers. Free People was also the place I went to get my first pair of fluffy Birkenstocks; they were way ahead of the game there.

I hope you find something to tickle you fancy here. I will be back on Sunday with the Big Boot Edit!
