I know this one is stating the bleeding obvious, but I’m nothing if not predictable, so I’m here to tell you how much I love white trainers. I don’t think I would believe you if you said you didn’t own at least one pair. I have 7! and 5 of those are Adidas Stan Smiths. They are all just ‘slightly’ different though you understand, and therefore fully justifiable. I am also one of those annoying trainer wankers who don’t like it when they they lose their box fresh newness. I can deal with it to a certain extend, but when they start to look a bit tatty and worn-in I tend to go off them. That said, I have recently been drawn to the Golden Goose Brand and they are deliberately made to look old and dirty. That is just all kinds of wrong, but somehow also seems right!

My obsession with Stan Smiths started with this photo of Pheobe Philo from 2013. After I saw that, I just had to have a pair. I had to buy them a size too big, because at that point Adidas were only making them in men’s sizes. Luckily they cottoned on to the trend pretty quick and now you can’t move for Stan Smiths in all sizes, styles and price points. They are still my go-to shoe for almost any outfit when I call for comfort and simplicity. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a fancy shoe, (as you should know by now) but I will always turn to my Adidas in times of need.

Want to wear a dress but don’t want to look too dressed up? add a pair of white trainers. Fancy trying a suit, but don’t want to look like you work in the city? add a pair of white trainers. Just want to keep it casual with jeans and a sweat shirt? add a pair of white trainers. I could go on, but you get my drift. I like them. I’m sure you like them too. No, I don’t get paid by M&S. Maybe one day, as I stand by the fact that they come up with some gems if you sift through the linen slacks for long enough.
