I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

Wardrobe Staples — Jeans

Now, I need to start by saying I KNOW you will all own at least 5 pairs of jeans. I’m not teaching you anything new here, I’ve just had a lot of people ask me to do another jeans post, as last years one is now out-of-date. I will stick by my 4 denim styles that I think you need, they are, Black Skinny, Boyfriend, Cropped and Straight/Slim leg. I did go for a blue skinny last year, but I’m just changing that up slightly to a straight leg as I don’t wear my blue skinnies very often these days, I favour a slightly more forgiving cut!

You can spend an awful lot of money on designer jeans, and I would say that quite often you do get what you pay for when buying denim. The designer ones will be better quality denim, they will probably fit you better and be more flattering. But I do still believe the high-street does some really good ones too. The jeans I wear most at the moment, and have done for the past year are super-cheap tapered leg ones from H&M. Unfortunately they don’t stock them anymore, but I think these ones are the most similar that they have in at the moment. If you are int he market for designer denim, head over to The Outnet. It has the best discount selection. My advice would be if you see something in your size, buy it quick as they sell out quickly, it’s super-easy to return if they are not right. Also sign up to their newsletter as they will alert you when a new drop of J Brand/Current Elliott/Rag and Bone comes in.

Surprisingly, another great place for designer jeans is John Lewis. They have teamed up with Trilogy and have quite a considered edit, plus you can get them delivered to your local Waitrose for nothing, it’s always nice to pick up your designer denim alongside your ‘essential’ homous and falafals is it not? On the High Street, I favour H&M and Top Shop and Uniqlo. H&M, I would advise going into the store to buy and you never know what the sizing is like. Top Shop is usually pretty good, and they do the best black skinnies. Uniqlo tends to come up big, so go down at least one size in there. Especially for their Boyfriend styles.

I’ll break it down again into the 4 styles I would recommend, so here you go…

BLACK SKINNY JEANS

Would never be without at least 2 pairs of these. I need 2 pairs in case one is in the wash and I feel like wearing. I actually have 5 pairs, of course I do. One pair from Current Elliott, one from Rag and Bone (my favourite designer jeans brand), one from ASOS and one from Top Shop — the classic Baxter skinny jeans, the original and still the best on the high street. Wear your black skinnies with your black ankle boots. Studs optional!

BOYFRIEND JEANS

Perfect for more casual days, although you can dress up with a classic blazer and boots. I’ve always loved this style, although thankfully I have moved on since my Carhartt Carpenter ones in the 90’s. Complete with Nu-metal wallet on a chain tucked into the back pocket.

SLIM LEG JEANS

These are my classic everyday denim option. Straight leg or slim leg, I’d even go for slightly tapered. Work for slightly smart or dressed down.

2. Weekday Delina Sweater
3. Topshop Kash Leather Ankle Boots

CROPPED JEANS

I just like to show a bit of ankle, it works in the summer with a dab of fake tan and int the winter with a jazzy sock or even ( call me old fashioned) a pop sock. I still favour a black pop sock, they don’t  fall down like regular socks and that makes me happy. Others must also have the same idea as me as I popped into M&S this week to stock up and all the black size mediums were sold out.
