WearsMyMoney

I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

Spring is (not quite) in the air

I’d like to say that spring is in the air, but I would be lying as currently I am wearing 3 layers of clothes and 80 deniers, but it IS finally March which is usually the the light at the end of the winter tunnel and thoughts turn to the new season and what exciting Spring Fashion trends we can get on board with.

My love for all things Gucci has not diminished during the winter months, I have recently discovered the Men’s collection, the sweatshirts are so good and those furry loafers I have been coveting come with a multitude of embroidery in the men’s collection (and start at size 6 – the joy!, now I really need to keep saving) Obviously I can’t afford a sweatshirt for £600, but I’ll be keeping an eye on the mens’s high street to see if anyone does any homages. I prefer the fit of mens Jumpers in a lot of shops, Uniqlo Cashmere being the best case in point.

I’m also still lusting after that GG Marmont bag. I think at this point I can probably only justify one or the other – shoes or bag? Which would I get more use out of? Undoubtedly the bag, but my love for those furry bee slippers knows no bounds. They are utterly impractical. My friend told me that they ‘don’t fit with my lifestyle’, I doubt you could risk leaving the house in the them if there is a hint of rain in the air, and we live in England, there is always a hint of rain in the bloody air. You only need to look at my barnet by the time I’ve walked to the tube station to know that. (‘Hello Mr Frizz Ease, you are a liar’), unfortunately all these negatives only fuel my desire. Someone tells me I can’t have it, only makes me want it more.

PINK

Pink, this is another theme I’ve been drawn too recently. Pink worn with pale grey is something I think I can get on board with this year. I’ve already bought an H&M pink pleated skirt, but it needs a bare leg for its debut and there’s no way I’m getting those out unsheathed until we hit at least 65 degrees. If only it was socially acceptable for people other than Kate Middleton to wear nude 10 deniers.

RUFFLES

The statement sleeve, I’m tempted with a full on trumpet type affair as I’ve seen how good it looks on others, but I worry that I’ll get annoyed with the flappiness and it will end up in my dinner. I have dipped my toes in the this trend with some ruffles closer up the arm, more practical, less irritating.

Ruffle Sleeves

DRESSES

I’d also like to go more on dresses, even though I am really a trouser-girl, sometimes I like to feel a bit feminine. If I’m going for a dress it would ideally be an almost maxi one with a long sleeve. Maxi dresses are great, but I like to lop a bit off the bottom though as I can’t be doing with a drag around the ankles. I fear I would  get all in a tangle and go arse over tit on the escalator (believe me, it’s happened before, it’s not pretty and it’s very painful) but a local tailor can help with that, or in my case a local husband. I bought him a sewing machine a few years ago for Christmas as he briefly mentioned once in passing that he used to make his own clothes as a teenager (!?). Since I bought him the sewing machine he hasn’t made anything for himself, but I’ve used him as my own personal clothes alteration service, so I am totally winning.

Maxi Dresses

Whatever I do end up wearing when the weather finally turns, I’m always happy when we get new season stock in the shops. It’s coming, I can feel it in the air…
