I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

Into The Blue

I had loads of ideas for this weeks blog post, there’s a black trench I’ve ordered in the M&S sale that I was going to style up, but I haven’t got around to collecting it yet, so I don’t know if I’m even going to keep it. I have high hopes, but you never know! There’s also the swimsuit quest. I am already 99% sure I’ve found the winner already in this Boden number, but the 2 I ordered from The Outnet still haven’t arrived, so I can’t do a full review until I’ve tried those on. oh, how much fun it is trying on swim suits with legs like corned beef that haven’t seen the sun in months…(Talking of The Outnet there is 25% pretty much everything on their site right now, use the code TAKE 25.) I also had a thought on skinny black jeans, as despite all trends I still swear by them, but I didn’t have time to do any research as that thought only occurred to me yesterday. So, in summary, I stuck to my first idea of BLUE.

It was originally going to be be all about baby blue, but that was too restrictive and I just found a ton of stuff in all shades that I loved. So the theme is fairly broad, but all based on blue. It’s a colour that suits everyone. Navy is an absolute classic always, but pale blue is a way of dipping a toe into spring pastels without coming off like a Stepford wife dressed head to toe in lemon and violet. It’s easy, and it’s pretty much the colour of denim, and we all love denim don’t we?

I was mostly inspired to go ‘Into The Blue’ this week by seeing two particular products,The first was the Love Cashmere sweater from Orwell & Austen that I spied at an event I went to last week. The other was the amazing Lily & Lionel blue patterned maxi dress that I still feel would be perfect for my next upcoming holiday. I can see myself wafting around Jamaica in it. Although, as it turns out, not wafting to far from the boundary of the hotel unfortunately, as Montego Bay is still under Marshall Law. Typical! BUT the resort has got a swim-up bar and a water park, so I’m thinking we won’t have much of a reason to leave! Anyway, I digress, back to the task in hand, Blue stuff. Here’s what I found…

BLUE SWEATER

Below is the Orwell & Austen sweater I love. There is almost no doubt I will end up getting it at some point, it comes in 4 other colours though, so I’m still deciding which one I will get the most wear out of. I also just bought these Veja trainers from The Dressing Room. Did I need another pair of Veja trainers? No, but these have blue details, I had a money-off voucher and do I love a box-fresh trainer. They are eco-friendly though, so my guilt is tempered somewhat…

1. Orwell & Austen Blue Cashmere ‘Love’ Sweater (25% discount if you subscribe to their newsletter)
2. Top Shop Denim Shacket
3. Paige Straight Leg Cropped White Jeans
4. Kurt Geiger Friday Leather Bag
5. Veja V10 Trainers (10% off if it’s your first order at The Dressing Room)

BLUE DRESS

Ok, so we may be a bit previous for summer dresses, but here’s hoping the days of tights and long socks are soon to come to an end. Seeing as these two dresses are maxis, you could always do my ‘secret leggings’ trick. It works a treat and no-one need ever know you are still not quite brave enough to go fully bare legged…

1. AND/OR Suede Clutch Bag
2. Lee Jeans Straight Cut Denim Jacket
3. Lily and Lionel Santorini Marlowe Dress
4. Gestuz Floral Print Maxi Dress
5. Chloe Metallic Leather Ballet Flats

BLUE SHIRT

Everyone needs a denim, or light blue shirt for the spring. Don’t be afraid to go double denim. My only rule about the DD is to wear slightly different shades of denim, but with so much choice out there, that’s not hard. This green Gucci Marmont Camera bag is my latest Gucci obsession. Look at the colour! I love it, and it would go so well with these Golden Goose hi-tops from Black White Denim that I also can’t afford right now, but I am hoping my latest wardrobe cull and sell-on will free up some readies next month. If you are based in the North of the UK, check out Preloved Designer Sale in Harrogate next month. Talking of ‘The North’, I’ll also be visiting my new pal Jo at her Black White Denim boutique in May for a shopping event, so if you are based around the Wilmslow/Cheshire/Manchester area it would be great to see you. I will keep you posted nearer the time on details.

1. M&S Crop and Boxy Short Sleeve Shirt
2. Gucci Marmont Small Camera Bag
3. ME + EM Weekender Jeans
4. M&S Denim Tencel Shirt
5. Golden Goose Deluxe Brand Glitter Hi-Tops

BLUE SUIT

If you’ve got a smart event coming up but you’re not a dress and heels kind of a girl, you could do worse than a bright blue suit. Plus you can wear both pieces separately after, so you get more outfit choices for your money. Obviously I would wear with brogues, but this would be great with a stiletto if you’re one of the lucky ones that can still walk in them.

1. The Outnet Iris and Ink Luca Double Breasted Crepe Blazer
2. Marc Jacobs Shutter Leather Handbag
3. Bella Freud Slogan T Shirt BWD
4. The Outnet Iris and Ink Luca Trousers
5. Aldo Platform Metallic Brogues

BLUE JEANS

Had to end on the classic. I’ve been favouring a high waisted jean lately. They act a bit like a corset and suck your stomach in. My favourite blue ones that everyone asks about are from H&M, but 2 years ago, unfortunately they don’t stock them anymore. The closest looking ones I have found, are these straight legs from Topshop. The raw hem is handy if you are not tall as you can just cut off a bit more to your desired length. Smarten things up a bit with cute flat and a navy blazer.

1. J Crew Going Out Blazer
2. The Outnet Tory Burch Nubuck Handbag
3. Baukjen Layla Long Sleeve Shirt
4. Top Shop Moto Mid Blue Straight Leg Jeans
5. Malone Souliers Maureen Flats
6. M&S High Cut Ballerina Pumps

That’s it for blue. It’s anyone’s guess what next weeks post will end up being. If you have any requests, as always do let me know. I’ve had one request to do another Biker Jacket post and one on watches, so those are on the list!
