WearsMyMoney

I spent it all on clothes by the looks of things...

In My Hood

Believe it or not, I have only bought one item of clothing this month. I know, WTF is wrong with me? I guess it’s just that time of year between the bleak midwinter and the potential of spring and the joy of a bare ankle once more. Plus I’m still saving for those silly Bee shoes And that black Gucci Bag that I can’t stop obsessing over, but, ‘What is that one thing you have bought?’ I hear you cry (or mutter under your breath in a vaguely disinterested way) Well, funny you should ask that, I bought a hoodie. Not just any old hoodie, but a bright pink hoodie no less. I know, I am 44 and maybe this is teenage clothing, but it was just there front and centre in H&M calling to me.

It seems I’m not the only one to have rediscovered a love of dressing like Vicky Pollard, Yeah, but no, but, yeah, but no, but, really, it felt like every other photo I saw of New York Fashion week involved someone wearing a hoodie, and if it’s good enough for the style set of NYC, then it’s good enough for me. Plus, how easy is it to throw a hoodie on at the weekend? It’s perfect comfort dressing. One thing that seems key to elevating it above comfy stay-at-home status is to maybe wear it with a more tailored coat. I’ve worn mine with my trusty old Toppers coat this week…

I’ll also wear it with my camel coat I think, more ideas here…

HOODIE + COLOUR-BLOCK

HOODIE + TRENCH

Or, to help with the ever changing weather, maybe we could pair it with a trench coat. This is really just an excuse to show this cool embroidered one from River Island. I love a bit of embroidery…

  2. Rag & Bone Boyfriend Jeans — The Outnet
  3. Embroidered Trench Coat — River Island

HOODIE + BOOTS

Maybe you should just say ‘fuck it’ and go got the full sportswear vibe, just leave out the joggers or the nice middle class ladies in Waitrose might think you are out to steal the fillet steaks instead of just stocking up on your ‘essential’ Hummus and Prosecco. P.S. how cool are these boots? Want.

  1. Adidas Sweatshirt — Top Shop
  2. Classic Camo Jacket — & Other Stories
  3. Skinny Zip Jeans — Mango
  4. Metallica T — River Island

Or how about something for the lady who has everything? A Gucci Sweatshirt that costs more than my car…

P.S. ‘In my Hood’ is a song by a new talent called Ray BLK. I saw her perform this week, she’s great.
