Feeling Good

So, it’s already October, how the hell did that happen?  The bi-annual round of Fashion Weeks have all come to an end. This year they have pretty much passed me by as my real work has been stupid busy. I’ve just spent the past week in Manchester making a TV Special with a wonderful Canadian singer. No, not Justin Bieber, the other one, the one who’s funnier, better looking and more sophisticated (sorry Biebs).

Manchester has changed so much since the days I used to go regularly. Back in the late ’90s when my first job in the Music Business was driving around the country visiting all the tin-pot local radio stations, trying to get them to play the latest single by someone you’ve never heard of, staying in cheap B&Bs and avoiding the unwanted attentions of local radio DJ’s. Really. I once had a boss who was so cheap that she would often arrange for me to stay at the homes of aforementioned local DJs instead of paying for an actual room at the local Travel Tavern. I had to have my wits about me one memorable evening when a rather repulsive fellow and his equally unattractive girlfriend thought it was a good idea to suggest I might like to share their bed instead of the one in the spare room. I professed an intense migraine, locked all doors, slept with one eye open and was gone before dawn. True Fact. God knows what had ever given them the impression I might be interested in their bedroom antics, maybe it was my patent rubber trousers. In hindsight they were never the best sartorial idea…

Anyway, thank the lord that times have a‑changed. It’s not the early ’90s anymore, I get to stay in real nice hotels and Manchester is now a hive of fine dining, great shops and good company. Now I have digressed so far off course on this post, it’s time to reel myself back in. The point was supposed to be that I take more inspiration from the fashion bloggers  on the street during Fashion Week rather than the actual catwalk. A lot of what they wear is more relevant to my life, my style and most importantly, my budget! (a lot, not all)Fashion week aw 17

I’ve picked just 2 looks to focus on. We shall start with The Jumpsuit. I know I have enthused about dungarees before, but jumpsuits / boiler suits / whatever you like to call them are also a favourite of mine. I ignore the jibes from my husband about looking like a member of Slipknot or Kevin Webster. Here’s how Charlotte aka The Fashion Guitar styled hers:Denim Jumpsuit gucci fur loafers quilted handbag

And here’s how to get this look. Firstly on a bit of budget…denim jumpsuits loafers chain handle bags

Faux Leather Box Bag with Chain Strap from Forever 21
Flap front leather chain strap bag from John Lewis
Burgundy chain satchel bag from New Look

And now for those who feel like blowing the budget somewhat. I know, I know,  more Gucci…Denim Jumpsuits gucci loafers gucci handbags

The next look I’m going for is something just as simple. A long sleeve dress with chunky boots. That is one of my go-to outfits when my brain can only function hard enough to pick out one thing from the wardrobe instead of 3 or 4. These two looks were my favourite…floral midi dress with sleeves leather jacket chunky boots

The high street has a wealth of long sleeved midi dresses in right now, I featured a few in one of my previous posts here. Inevitably I have bought most of them and now I want all these ones (especially the Maje one, it’s so dreamy!) they look great with leather jackets and we all like to look at new handbags don’t we? fashion-week-dress-1-dicker boots - leather jacket - chloe feye bag

Until next time.
