Christmas Colour Blocking — Red, Gold and Green

Red, Gold and Green, it’s not all about Culture Club, it’s about Christmas! I do not in any way condone you wearing these colours all at the same time, unless you want to look like one of Santa’s little helpers, but separately and in abundance I am totally down with. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! you can dress up every day just because. You can wear sparkly stuff or even an ugly Christmas jumper if you are that way inclined. I have one festive jumper that I bought from Primark about 4 years ago. I don’t know what the hell it’s made of, but I do know that when I wear it I get so hot I have to strip off after about 6 minutes. It’s like it’s made from molton lava spun into a heavy-duty acryIic fibre and shot into the sun. A heady combination. I digress. Again. This post is not about yule tide jumpers, maybe I will save that until next week, this week is about festive colours and how you can totally get into colour blocking with them.

Let’s start with Green. The colour of my favourite Christmas chocolate treat. Here’s how to rock a look just like a box of Matchmakers…

Green Pleated Skirt, Black Leather Jacket,

1. & Other Stories Cashmere Sweater
2. Mango Zipped Biker Jacket
3. & Other Stories Pleated Skirt
4. Karen Millen Leather Bag
5. LK Bennett Serafina Boots

Just because I like green so much, let’s go again with another outfit idea. Apologies for the excessive use of Gucci, but it’s Christmas — maybe you can put the expensive stuff on your list and let your other half know that it can be a combined Christmas and Birthday present (and hope they forget by the time your birthday comes around. This trick won’t work if you have a birthday in stupid early January like me. Which is another reason I end up self-gifting)

Cashmere Sweater, gucci disco Soho, Gucci Trainers, Velvet Trouser 1. Mango Shearling Fur Leather Coat
2. & Other Stories Cashmere Turtle Neck
3. M&S Velvet Wide Leg Trousers
4. Gucci Soho Disco Bag
5. Gucci Ace Embroidered Sneakers I WANT these!

Red. Let’s ease in gently with a deep festive red, or would it be maroon? plum? aubergine? Anyway, you know what I mean and this colour feels like Christmas to me, especially when you add some velvet, diamonds and fake fur into the mix. This one is more of a Christmas party outfit. By the way, Mango are streaks ahead with their fake fur this season and just look at those shoes…

mango Faux Fur, Monica Vinader Earrings, Warehouse Lace Dress, Miu Miu Ballet Flats

1. Mango Fake Fur Coat
2. Warehouse Lace Dress
3. Monica Vinader Diamond Riva Earrings
4. Reiss Velvet Clutch
5. Miu Miu Embellished Velvet Ballet Flats

More red. Again, I (kind of) apologise again for Gucci over-use. You know how Gucci never have sales? Well, I have news for you — as a valued costumer (ie: if you have bought more than one item from one of their shops) you get individually emailed to be invited to the sale! It’s all very nice and discreet. They give your own time-slot and everything. I’m going next week and I trying not to buy myself these red Marmonts for Christmas. Look at them — they scream Christmas! no, I can’t afford* them but when did that stop me? I would also totally match my shoes to my bag — don’t care if that’s totes 80’s (*P.S my latest eBay sales end on Monday if you want to help feed my addiction!)

Gucci Marmont, Top Shop Blouse, Frame Jeans

1. Top Shop Poppy Print Blouse
2. Gucci Marmont Mini Bag
3. Frame Cropped Jeans
4. Mango Black Classic Wool Coat
5. Gucci Marmont Mid Heel Loafers

Last but not least, Gold. Maybe not head to toe or you might look like that toffee Quality Street, but break it up with a tiny bit of black and add some simple jewellery and you’re onto a winner. Look! Gold Vans! Want…

Gold Skirt, Velvet Sweatshirt, Aninna Vogel Necklace, Olivia Burton Watch

1. & Other Stories Black Velvet Sweatshirt
2. Top Shop Pleated Gold Skirt
3. Annina Vogel 9ct Gold Necklace
4. Olivia Burton Gold Bee Watch
5. Vans Old Skool Rose Gold Trainers

Maybe next time I can do an actual blog post based on dressing like Chocolates. Bagsy not being the Chocolate Orange, its just not my colour.
