Back To School Boots

No, I’m not going back to school, I’m talking about treating yourself to a new pair of boots. I feel like I deserve some new boots to celebrate my not-so-little darlings having finally returned to gainful education. Those 7 weeks of complaining that they never ‘do anything’, alternated with ‘why do we have to go out?’ are over for another year. I love the summer, but I am pretty happy that life is back to normal again. I am already thinking of where to go on our next holiday though, you have to have something to look forward to don’t you?

But until then, it’s September and that ‘back to school’ feeling always makes me think of buying new shoes. New shoes were always my favourite part of going back, well that and the pencil-case, all that wonderful stationary and a plethora of new scented rubbers to add to my collection. I don’t suppose they even make them anymore as health and safety probably rules them out in case foolish kids eat them.

Autumn means the shoe of the season is really a boot, not a shoe. I know it’s still reasonably warm but always good to get your new Autumn boots purchase in early. So pack away your sandals and let’s have a look at some styles I’m keen on this month…

CHUNKY BOOTS

This is probably my favourite style of boots, as I mentioned before, I will always be a grunge/rock girl at heart. My all time favourites are the Givenchy studded buckle boots. Prohibitively expensive at full price for most people, myself included. I got mine at a very fortuitous discount-upon-a-discount from Secret Sales. Never before, and never again, have I ever seen anything on that site that was as good as these. The footwear gods were smiling upon me that October day in 2016 when I scored the worlds bests boots at a 45% discount. That was still super expensive, but I’ve worn them so much I’ve already had to have them resoled. I look forward to colder weather so I can wear more.

CHELSEA BOOTS

An absolute classic boot. Everyone should have at least one pair fo Chelsea boots. Will never go out of fashion and should last you for years. Personally, if you were to get just one style I would opt for classic black, like the M&S or Cos ones. The pointy ones from & Other Stories are also cool, and comfortable too, I have them in black patent leather but they come in about 6 colours and they do them every year, so you know they are winners.chelsea boots

WESTERN BOOTS

Definitely a big trend for this season. I’m not one for heels at all, but I can just about deal with the height of these. My perennial favourites are the Isabel Marant Dicker boots. I have had mine for about 5 years now and I still wear them if I want a little lift. They are expensive, but price per wear is tiny. Topshop also do a great ‘homage’ though with their Betty boots. if you’re feeling more adventurous then why not some serious cowboy style like the Ganni and Topshop ones below?

NOT BOOTS AT ALL — HI-TOPS

I know, not boots at all really, but these are also staples in my wardrobe for the coming season. I never really got the fuss about Golden Goose before I actually bought a pair. They have a ‘secret lift’ in the sole which makes your ankles look really thin. Shallow, yes, but they are also super comfy. But for that price they really should be! If they are out of your price point, then go for Vans. Also super comfortable and cool.
